We need you! A Community volunteer position.

We urgently need to find a community volunteer to take on the role as the Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator position.

We believe the Champlain Park Neighbourhood Watch program is a worth while community program to support, as it affects the safety and wellness of the Champlain Park community as a whole.

We are asking if you, or if you could use your personal network of friends and neighbours living in Champlain Park if they would be interested in volunteering for this position.

Details of this position are outlined below, for more program details please see Neighbourhood Watch

Holiday Charity Virtual Auction

Due to the pandemic, we’re having a holiday charity auction, and an upcoming best decorated house contest. Unfortunately the sleigh ride and winter carnival had to be cancelled, but we still have hopes for the rink.

From: Nick Xenos <xenosn@yahoo.com>

[Pair of Glowing Pumpkins at Night]

We would like congratulate the winners of the Champlain Park Halloween Contest. Your efforts were recognized by the residents of the neighbourhood.

The deserving winners are 222 Carleton Avenue for the best-decorated house and 185 Daniel Avenue for the best-carved pumpkin. The little skeletons of Carleton gained the appreciation of the public as well as the 2 illuminated pumpkins of 185 Daniel that represented 2 grimacing faces. The winners will each receive a Thyme and Again gift card.

[Baby Skeletons in the Front Yard]
We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Champlain Park Community Association for sponsoring the prizes and to all those who participated in the context by decorating their houses, their pumpkins and by voting for their favourite decorations. You have demonstrated our community spirit to celebrate a safe Halloween in this unusual year!

In late breaking news, we have a reply message from the graveyard…

[Post Halloween sign thanking the community]

Nous tenons à féliciter les gagnants du concours d’Halloween de Champlain Park dont l’effort n’a pas passé inaperçu par les habitants du quartier.

Community Bonfire Wrap-up

We had our third and well attended Community Bonfire this past Saturday. The weather was a nice +4C and sunny – the move to later in February was a good choice.

Lots of people around on a fine warm 4C day. Photo: AGMS

First, thanks go to community event organizers Jim Cocks and Bill Baggs. They set it up and did most of the work.
