On Saturday, February 25 something BIG is coming to Wellington West this HEART Season! Join together on Wellington St W between 11am – 2pm for the BIG HEART Challenge Activity Day!
All to raise money for the Ottawa Heart Institute. Proudly presented by our sponsor Wellington West Retirement Community, and in partnership with Run Ottawa.
Lining 2km of Wellington St. West are games, activities, obstacles, and challenge stations! Grab a ballot from one of the stations and begin checking off your activities as you complete challenges. Want a neat way to try all the activities? Start at one of the two start/finish makers and make your way down the street! Invite your friends and family out and have fun while raising money for the Ottawa Heart Institute through the BIG HEART Challenge!

Some interesting challenges in the list there, and fortunately there is snow in the forecast so there can be some snowball action. I also see “FREE Stubbe chocolate for every challenge completed!” so there’s a prize even if you only do one of the ten challenges. Hmmm, should that milk jug toss challenge be a milk bag toss? 🙂
The Wellington West Business Improvement Area invites you to join us for our annual TASTE of Wellington West festival, happening this coming Saturday, September 24! Enjoy by-donation gourmet food samples, sidewalk sales, entertainment and family fun from 11:00am-4:00pm in Hintonburg and Wellington Village in support of our permanent charity partner, the Parkdale Food Centre.
You can find everything you need to know about TASTE here!
We hope to see you there as we host our first in-person festival for the first time since 2019!

Our nearby neighbours are having their food festival this fall over several weeks. There’s even a calendar to keep all the action straight. Local neighbour Dennis Van Staalduinen, who runs the Wellington West BIA, appeared in an Ottawa Citizen interview on the event.
Their description from https://wellingtonwest.ca/taste-returns-for-2021/:
TASTE of Wellington West is back again for another year of modified festivities to showcase the very best flavours and features of our beautiful neighbourhoods in Hintonburg and Wellington West. As always, we are using this annual festival as an opportunity to raise money for our charity partner, The Parkdale Food Centre.
This year we will have an exciting combination of both virtual and in person events showcasing the food, art and fun of Wellington West. Visit our TASTE 2021 webpage for more details on all these festive features and more to come.
The Wellington West BIA wants to learn more about the residents of Carlington and our shopping behaviours. At the end of the completed survey, you can enter to win up to $500 in prizes. The grand prize draw for a $250 gift card to any store you choose will be held on August 7; and, weekly prizes will be held every Friday from July 3-31 for a $50 gift card to any store you choose. The WVCA’s statement made to the Citizen on the proposed development:
“The Wellington Village Community Association welcomes quality
development and good design and what we have seen so far from Mizrahi
Developments impresses us. But, we want to be very clear that is our
preferred option that the developer respect the CDP which has just
recently taken effect. This is the same CDP that the WVCA,
Councillor Hobbs and City Council supported. ”
