Fieldhouse

After much discussion with city staff, the Champlain Park Community Association Board has decided that the field house will be open again in fall 2022 for activities.

This means regular clubs that met pre-COVID as well as those booking for a one-time event (birthday party, baby shower, etc) can now proceed. (If you need to make a booking, see the field house request form link later in this page).

We strongly recommend all those booking events to ask participants to wear masks while in the field house for everyone’s safety – as the Omicron variants are highly contagious.

We reserve the right to close the field house if we experience a huge jump in cases in Ottawa this fall. We will take direction from the relevant authorities at the municipal and provincial levels and Ottawa Public Health on this matter.

You may wish to rent Champlain Park to hold an outdoors not-for-profit private or community event (Hours: 7am to 11pm). Picnics, fundraisers, sporting events, birthday parties, weddings, and special events may be booked by applying to the City of Ottawa for a rental permit. Champlain Park Community Association will be given preference for a date over a private function if they have applied for a permit well in advance. Go to the PARK RENTAL PERMITS link on the website to apply.

The Champlain Park Fieldhouse is owned by the City of Ottawa but scheduling the daily use of the facility has been delegated to the community association and its volunteers.

It consists of one large open room, a full kitchen and washrooms. It is suitable for events like birthday parties, meetings and recreational programs such as aerobics.

Neighbourhood residents are able to book use of the fieldhouse, however, many evenings or morning time slots are already taken with regular classes, such as yoga. The association has done its best to keep Saturday and Sunday afternoons free for community use, such as children’s birthday parties.

Regular programs generally run from September to June.

Evenings from Monday to Friday are usually booked though some Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights are sometimes available.

The rental fee is $20 an hour, plus a current association membership ($20 as of 2022). Those using the Fieldhouse are required to sign a contract, as required by the city. There is no alcohol permitted.
