Meeting on Rezoning 10 Garrison from R1 to R4UC – March 5

A virtual public meeting is planned for March 5 at 6:30 that will consider quite a drastic change for a residential street right next to the Metro grocery store in our neighbourhood.

The property owner at 10 Garrison Street is applying for a zoning bylaw change to construct a three-story low-rise apartment building with 10 units. The current single, detached home would be demolished (just north of Wellington Street and west of Western Avenue). The applicant will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. You can read more details and access information regarding the Zoom link on the Kitchissippi Ward website. Champlain Park likely will be dealing with this kind of request for spot rezonings in the near future.

Our Rink has Ice Again!

From Paul O’Blenes in the Champlain Park Outdoor Rink group on Facebook this morning:

ODR, outfield and oval are open, however, it’s still a work in progress – there are bumps and there are some holes. Temporarily the north end of the rink is closed for repairs, otherwise there is lots of decent skateable ice.

Please use caution today and tomorrow. With the current cooler temperatures we hope to get the rink in better shape for the weekend.

Thanks Champlain Hoseheads and your hardwork!

Elmdale BookFest 2024 – February 23-24

Elmdale Public School is excited to announce the return of our beloved annual BookFest fundraiser, a tradition cherished by our community for over 50 years! BookFest is not just an event; it’s a celebration of literacy and community spirit.

Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised over $23,000 and gathered a whopping 40,000 books! These contributions directly support the many enriching activities and programs here at Elmdale.

We warmly invite you to be part of this wonderful tradition by donating books at Elmdale Public School (49 Iona St, Ottawa) or via the Java Street entrance until February 15th.

Save the dates: February 23rd (9am-9pm) and February 24th (9am-4pm) for our BookFest sale, held in the Elmdale gymnasium! Dive into a treasure trove of books priced between $1 and $3. It’s an opportunity not to be missed for book lovers and bargain hunters alike.

Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the joy of reading and support our school. We can’t wait to see you at BookFest!
