Join the Champlain Park Baseball Pool – April 22 – Reminder

Just a reminder that the pool closes in a couple of days…

Nothing says spring like the beginning of baseball – Join the first ever Champlain Park Baseball Pool! It’s free and low-maintenance, to enter:

  • Pick one position player from each of these positions: 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, Catcher, (5 players total)
  • Pick 3 outfielders

Position players get 1 point for each steal, run, homerun, RBI

  • Pick 1 pitcher – pitchers get 5 points for each win and 1 point for each strikeout
  • Pick a team – each team win gets 2 points

Submit your 10 picks (9 players and 1 team) to Nick at chparkevents@yahoo.com by April 22nd 10pm.

Holiday Decoration Contest Winner

Champlain Park Holiday Decorations Contest

We would like to congratulate the winner of the Champlain Park Holiday Decorations Contest whose efforts were recognized by Champlain Park residents. The winner is 234 Cowley Avenue!!! This house was voted the best decorated by residents of Champlain Park because of the dozens of festive decorations that adorned it: snowmen, strings of lights, toy soldiers, etc…It was not surprising that the Santa stopover won the prize that consists of a $50 gift certificate that can be used at any Wellington West merchant.

Holiday House Decoration Contest – Reminder

Last week for you to vote on the best decorated house!!!

You have until December 26th to vote for the house in Champlain Park with your favourite holiday decorations. Everyone can vote, big and small!

To vote email Nick at xenosn@yahoo.com this week with the address of the house that you think has the best decorations.

The house with the most votes wins a 50$ gift certificate to any business in West Wellington. The prize was generously donated by the West Wellington BIA.

Tree Planting, Artist Studio Tour – Reminders

A couple of reminders for things happening in our neighbourhood.

Second, the West End Studio tour is on this weekend and next weekend, https://westendstudiotour.ca/ Walk our neighbourhood and visit three of the artists living here, from 11am to 5pm: Paula #7 on Daniel, Aly #6 on Patricia and Don #8 on Cowley.

Spring time trees

Are you one of the lucky ones with a front yard unimpeded by hydro wires? Do you have a backyard with space to breath? Want to start the next generation of the elder tree in your yard? There are still a few baby Bur Oaks (Heritage Champlain Oaks) and baby Sugar Maples available from my backyard nursery. They will become big trees, so not for tiny spaces. Curb side pick up available at Daniel Avenue, by sending an email to dbuckles@sas2.net.

Dogs MUST be on Leashes – Reminder

Reminder – Dogs MUST be on Leashes at all times.

Message from the Champlain Park Community Association

City of Ottawa bylaws and rules established by the National Capital Commission require dog owners to keep their dog on a leash at all times while in our neighbourhood. This applies to streets, to the Champlain Woods and to the Tunney’s Pasture parking lot, where dogs must also be on leashes at all times. The Park in our community is designated as a “No Dogs allowed” space, as is Remic Beach.
