Winter seems to be going, coming back, going … but eventually the buds on the trees will swell and spring WILL arrive. To enhance your appreciation of our urban forest and as a kick-off activity for Champlain Park’s environment activities, join naturalist Owen Clarkin for a walk through the Champlain Woods and various streets to learn how to identify trees when there are no leaves present.

Ring Found
The lost and found post below reminded me that my husband and I found what looks like a man’s wedding band. We found it near the ice rink about a month ago.

Hello,
I found a usb stick on the side walk of the Field House this morning. Is there a way to post ‘the find”?
The owner can contact me.

Or if there is another way we deal with lost items please let me know.

Just writing an e-mail to us works. Though if you had a picture, that would help people recognize it. On the other hand, identifying the true owner could rely on some secret about the lost item (such as what colour it is), which a photo may give away.

The Ottawa Mosque Association is having a Family Activity Day and Open House to start off the March Break. Heather Pearl and I attended a meeting with our Muslim neighbours and discussed some possibilities for activities to build bridges between Ottawa residents and Muslims who attend the mosque. It will be held on Saturday, March 11 from noon to 5pm. It is open to the general public.
This first event will appeal to all ages with activities for adults, youth, and children. For example, adults can ask religious experts anything they want to know about Islam or have your taxes done for free by professional tax experts who will be available. Teens can participate in cultural arts and crafts such as applying henna tattoos. Children will have an activity area with games and crafts. Of course, there will be food and drink. Bilingual youth will be tour guides.

Hydro Ottawa’s 2017 Community Forum – We want your input!
Good afternoon,
Last year, we hosted our very first Community Forum to share information on our programs offered in your community as well as information on various initiatives. The forum gave Community Associations an opportunity to exchange views and ideas with Hydro Ottawa personnel in an open and interactive environment – and we are getting ready to do this again.
This spring, we will host our second Community Forum and we want to ensure you are part of the planning process — we want to hear from you!
We invite you to complete a short questionnaire so we can do our best to accommodate your schedule and ensure the information presented is relevant to your community.
We encourage you to take a few minutes and provide your feedback. Your input is important to us and we thank you in advance.
Click here to complete the short survey.

Forum communautaire 2017 d’Hydro Ottawa – Nous voulons connaître votre opinion!
Bonjour,

From: Alex Hay <alex.hay@ocdsb.ca>
Hi Carol,
This is one idea — see attachment. I spoke to the Imam at the Mosque, as well as a leader of the Board; they both said that this action would be appreciated. If you’d be willing to use the CPCA list to get the word out, that would be great.
Peace,
Alex
Here’s a link to a Facebook event for the same action:
