Seen a Missing Package?

Subject: Lost package
Date: Tue, 22 Dec 2020 18:35:02 -0500
From: Sebastian Hadjiantoniou

[… Has] anyone has received a package that wasn’t for them? It is a package from the Bay. Canada Post said it was delivered yesterday around noon. It would be addressed to Sebastian Hadjiantoniou and is small in size. It should have been delivered to 264 Daniel Ave. If anyone has any information we’d be quite grateful. It’s a present for our mom and we’d love to give it to her. You can call us anytime at 613-276-0401.

Thank you so much for your help!

Sebastian

And a big thank you to the Champlain Park Community Association for helping make this happen!

Just a reminder that the house decoration contest is still on, running until the 26th.

Election of Officers and Call for Volunteers

See this post for more recent news about the meeting.

The Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA) annual general meeting is coming soon (January 27 2021), so it’s time to ask for volunteers to help our community as a board member. If you are interested, please send an email to: champlainpark@gmail.com

  • You can ask to be nominated for any of the listed board positions.
  • Names of current nominees are listed on the chart. Most are current Board members who are willing to stay on. However, all positions are open to further nominations and we welcome new members.
  • We have a position called β€œMember at Large”. This allows people to be on the board without a specific β€œportfolio” and to contribute in a variety of ways as per your interests. Some of our current board members started as Member at Large and then β€œspecialized”.
  • Please see the organizational chart to get some ideas of how you might contribute if you are interested in becoming a board member or other type of CPCA volunteer. Note the chart will be updated after elections at the AGM.
  • If you are thinking of joining the board in the future, attending some of our open executive meetings (advertised on our website) is a good way to familiarize yourself with the work of the community association.

The AGM agenda will be posted soon, including guest speakers (Bike Ottawa and City Councillor Jeff Leiper are scheduled).

Hi there, cleaning out the bookshelf and I’d love to find a home for these rather than adding to landfill. The spines are a bit sun-faded but the pages are perfect. I’ve left them in a blue/white plastic bag outside my door at 258 Carleton Ave. First come first serve – happy cooking! (please take the whole bag if you can use them)

Rink – Call for Support

Champlain Park Outdoor Rink – call for community support!

Hello Champlain Park residents and friends,

We’re happy to let you know that the Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA) will be taking on the task of building and maintaining the Champlain Park outdoor rink for the 2020 season. A huge thanks to our neighbours, Matt Karam and Paul O’Blenes, who have volunteered as rink coordinators this year!

We have already received interest from community members to assist with the rink, but we will need all the help we can get for rink maintenance. Maintenance needs will be a mix of regularly scheduled tasks, as well as ad hoc calls for help, depending on weather events and conditions (such as shoveling snow before a thaw or small frequent clearings during a blizzard). A large volunteer network will help ensure we maximize the number of days the rink is open. We are eager to begin building the rink as soon as the weather permits, hopefully around mid-December.

In terms of COVID countermeasures, the City will be posting signage at all outdoor rinks this winter, reminding skaters to maintain 2 metres distance and specifying gathering limits, based on allowances that apply at the time. Please note that in light of the current public health conditions, the CPCA will not be taking on the responsibility to provide either public access to the Fieldhouse changerooms, or supervised rink hours. However, a special thank you goes to St. George School, who graciously donated three benches which will be available outdoors to put on and take off skates.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with maintenance, please email Matt at ChamplainParkRink@gmail.com. We would also welcome students looking to fulfill their community hour requirements.

Looking forward to a happy and safe winter on the Champlain Park ODR!

Dan Wilcock
