Federal All Candidates Debate – October 15

You are invited to the Federal All Candidates Debate, Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at 7 pm.

  • The debate is sponsored by your local community associations.
  • Some volunteers to help set up and put away tables and chairs would be appreciated. Please get in touch with Heather Pearl at pearhea@aol.com before October 4. I will forward your information to the organisers.

If you can’t make it in person, there are also plans to live-stream the debate on YouTube.

Garden Club: Sicilian Garden and Gastronomic Tour – September 10

Come out to the first meeting of the Champlain Park Garden Club on Tuesday, September 10 at 7 pm at the field house.

Phil Reilly who use to run a nursery with his wife Carol brings us a talk/slideshow from Italy. “Sicilian Garden and Gastronomic Tour: An Unexpected Education”

Fee is $25.00 per year (if you have your current Champlain Park Community Association membership). Drop in fee is $5.00. All are welcome.

We are one month away from our biggest event of the year, TASTE of Wellington West! Saturday, September 21st, we’ll need volunteers to help with event setup and tear-down, our Community Fair, Kids Fun-Zone, crowd control, handing out event guides up and down Wellington West, and more.

City Climate Change Plans Talk – August 26

Three of our CPCA board members (Roland, Daniel, Heather) are involved with this event, and would like to bring it to the attention of the community:

You are welcome to attend a talk by the City’s lead Climate Change staff August 26, 7:00 PM, hosted by the Greenspace Alliance. Andrea Flowers and Jennifer Brown of the City’s Climate Change and Resiliency Unit will provide an overview of their work, including the updated vision, targets, and priorities for the Air Quality and Climate Change Management Plan and the Energy Evolution model and the magnitude of change required to meet our Green House Gas targets.

The meeting will be held at the Hintonburg Community Centre, Burnside Room, 7 pm, August 26. Please RSVP Paul Johanis (pjohanis@rogers.com).
