The City of Ottawa invites residents to the launch of the project to develop the new Official Plan. The Official Plan is the strategic document that guides our city’s growth and development, and it will impact how and where the city will grow around us, now and for years to come.

Our long-term goal is for Ottawa to grow into the most liveable mid-sized city in North America, and we need your insight to make this happen. We are collaborating with residents from across the entire city to gather public input on the key issues facing Ottawa today.

Thai Embassy Office Zoning

Following up on last year’s post https://champlainpark.org/2017/08/06/office-building-on-island-park-drive/

From: ROLAND DORSAY <dorsay@rogers.com>

As some of you will a have read from Jeff Leiper’s Ward newsletter update today, the Thai Embassy has re-activated its application from last year for a zoning amendment. The application, if approved, would allow the Thais to use the Embassy “primarily”, (i.e. exclusively) as an Embassy office rather than as a residence.

[…]

Here is the link to the Ottawa DevApps site setting out the particulars which are unchanged from the original application: https://app01.ottawa.ca/postingplans/appDetails.jsf?lang=en&appId=__0EJZ89

Public comments on the Thai Embassy re-application are due by July 6th.

Town Hall on OMB Replacement – March 10

Subject: Please Join Me Saturday March 10
Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2018 21:09:30 +0000
From: Naqvi, Yasir (MAG) <Yasir.Naqvi@ontario.ca>

Good Afternoon,

As you know, our government recently passed the Building Better Communities and Conserving Watersheds Act, 2017. This legislation replaced the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) with the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, which will help ensure that proceedings before the tribunal are faster, fairer and more affordable.

We want to make sure that we do everything possible to give people a stronger voice in the planning of their own communities. So, I am pleased to invite you to a town hall discussion on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Churchill Seniors Recreation Centre, 345 Richmond Road, Ottawa.
