Hallowe’en Fun Run – October 28

via Todd Shannon on Facebook…

Attention Neighbours, please SAVE THE DATE for the 10th Annual Champlain Park Hallowe’en Fun Run*!

Start and finish line will be on the east side of the Fieldhouse, near the swings. We’ll get started at 9:30 with the ~2km route, followed by the ~800m route.

A few volunteers would be much appreciated to be on-course marshals so that no one gets lost in the haunted woods…

A $10 donation is encouraged (but not mandatory) to participate, with proceeds directly benefiting our neighbours at the Parkdale Food Centre.

Thanks to the Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA) for the funding of treats, prizes, posters, and supplies.

*The run is “under new management”, so please bear with us as we carry on this great legacy. Any questions, please ask in the comments.

Otherwise, see you on the 28th, and looking forward to all of the great costumes!

Halloween Fun Run?

The community association extends a huge thank-you to Pete Laughton who created and organized the annual Halloween Fun Run for our neighbourhood children.

But Pete is retiring his running shoes on this event.

So we’re looking for a few volunteers who can take over. Pete has kindly agreed to have a chat about what’s involved (he says it’s pretty simple)
If your kids have taken part in the past you know how fun it is. If you’re new to the hood then consider helping out in the run which winds through our community.

Let’s not let this great event disappear.

If you can help out, contact our social convenor Nick ASAP at: chparkevents@yahoo.com.

Thanks in advance.

Enthusiastic organizer, Peter Laughton, led the 2019 2km runners by bicycle on the SJAM trail through Champlain woods.

Garage Sale

The 2023 Kitchissipi Ward-wide Garage Sale is scheduled to happen on Saturday, June 3, starting at 8AM (usually ending around 1pm but it can go longer). This year our city councillor Jeff Leiper is hosting a map of sale locations. Write to him if you want to be added, but it’s not necessary.

Spring Cleanup 2023 Wrapup

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who volunteered during the 2023 Spring Clean-Up! This year’s turnout was amazing, with over 45 volunteers enjoying delicious donuts and cleaning up trash in and around Champlain Park. Thanks to you, our neighbourhood is so much cleaner and more beautiful! We are looking very forward to doing it again next year!

Kris, Eirene and Nick

Spring Cleanup 2023 – May 6

Nope, nope, way too rainy this final weekend of April (April showers?). We’ve decided to move spring cleanup to the following week. Sorry for the confusion.

Time to limber up and to get ready to stoop, scoop, lunge and squat our way to a cleaner community!

It’s a great way to get some exercise and help make our neighbourhood beautiful at the same time.

When: Saturday May 6th (in case of rain May 7)

Where: meet outside the Champlain Park fieldhouse at 10am and pick up a garbage bag and gloves. We’ll also provide snacks to tide you over! Children should be accompanied by an adult.

What: Choose a part of the neighbourhood and pick up any garbage you see and make our neighbourhood clean and beautiful. Dispose of the garbage bag with your normal household garbage/recycling/composting.
