[BobCat Logo]

Well, hello there BobCat fans, and thank you for hanging around on this mailing list.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Work demands made it impossible for us to host for the last 18 months or so, but we are now able to open up the stage once again and bring you the best roots music we can find in Canada and beyond.

And to that end … our first concert since the reboot is coming up in MARCH! Exciting.

We wanted to bring someone who we knew would do a stellar show, and who also has new music to share since we were last doing concerts. The first to come to mind: Jory Nash. Jory has performed here before, and he’s a BobCat favorite (both in terms of the hosts and the audience.)

His finely crafted songs (most recently on his album Wilderness Years), his skill as a musician and singer, and his winning personality all make an evening listening to Jory an evening well spent indeed.

So join us, won’t you?

  • WHO: Jory Nash in concert at BobCat
  • WHERE: 214 Northwestern Avenue, Ottawa
  • WHEN: March 23, 2019; arrive after 7, music at 8 sharp
  • WHAT (to bring): a snack to share; a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank; and some cash to purchase some merch-es.

Suggested donation is $20; all the cash goes to the artist. We like it in advance, dropped off or sent electronically via PayPal or Interac transfer to bob.ledrew@gmail.com

We hope to see you on the 23rd and once again celebrate the joy of live music in cozy surroundings.

And by the way… our friends Dave, Jennifer, and Anne Marie are organizing a house concert with fingerstyle guitar player and ex Duhk Joel Fafard. Here’s what they have to say:

“We’re having a house concert at our house with our good friend, Joel Fafard. He’s a great guitarist, storyteller, and performer. House concerts are nice and intimate, a really great atmosphere to see wonderful live music. Get a babysitter (if you need one), grab your friends, neighbours and favourite beverage, and come on out!

  • Saturday, March 9, 2019
  • $25 (all $ goes directly to Joel)

SJAM Trail Now has Enough Snow

Now that we have enough snow, the next bottleneck for the SJAM Winter Trail is funding (there’s a Fundrazr.com web page or you can send a cheque to Dovercourt). The main source of funding remains interested individuals.

Here’s what they say in a Facebook post and Twitter Tweet:

We are proud of the fact that the SJAM Winter Trail is a Multi-Use Urban Winter Pathway but it does mean care and feeding everyday; otherwise it is no good to anyone.

[SJAM Before Grooming]

Thank you for your donations to keep us grooming. Together lets keep the trail inviting to use, free, and welcoming to everyone.

[SJAM After Grooming]

Hoping one day will see City of Ottawa funding.

Bird Count – Sunday

Subject: K9: Bird count this Sunday

2018 marks the 100th annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC). The CBC is a census of birds in the Western Hemisphere, and is conducted by volunteers. This year’s count will be on Sunday, December 16. The count involves monitoring your bird feeder and counting the birds that come by. Participants will be given a checklist and are asked to report the numbers at noon and final numbers at the end of the day.

Gillian Koh, Hintonburg Community Association board member, will be administering the CBC for the Kitchissippi. If you would like to participate, please email her at gillian.a.koh@gmail.com.
