Hi Sarah,
This is just a note to let you know that my home has been the victim of malicious damage to our front bay-window.
Since we did not hear it happen – it may have happened when we were not at home – we do not know exactly when it happened. We think the damage was caused sometime in the early weeks of August this year. Our south facing window was attacked by some form of projectile that left a 1/2 inch hole in the outer pane of our thermopane bay-window. The window itself faces the street and measures 37″ wide by 49″ high. The hole is about 2 inches from the top and about 13 1/2 inches from the left (west) side.
Since the projectile did not penetrate the inner pane of glass, we surmise that it was not caused by a bullet. We think more likely that it was caused by the pellet from some form of air gun, though we cannot be sure. In either case, the damage will necessitate the complete replacement of the window which will amount to several hundred dollars.
The incident has been reported to Const. Dawn Neilly at the local Community Police Centre (Report number 15-208693). We are concerned that it may have been caused by one of the youth that live in Champlain Park. Hopefully, this kind of damage has not been perpetrated on any other home in our community.
We would be grateful if you would pass on this information to residents of our community through the Champlain Park website so that other residents can be informed of the incident. Someone, somewhere may have knowledge of who may have been responsible. If anyone has information that could help identify the perpetrator I would be grateful if they would contact us or the Community Police Centre at 613-236-1222, ext. 5871.

Amendment for Rochester Field

Subject: Community Heads Up: OPA – Rochester Field
Date: Thu, 27 Aug 2015 19:23:27 +0000

Good afternoon,

I am writing to advise you of an upcoming City-initiated Official Plan Amendment (OPA) in Ward 15.

As part of the 100 Day Working Group on Stage 2 Light Rail Transit, the City agreed to settle an Ontario Municipal Board appeal by the National Capital Commission to the City’s 2003 Official Plan relating to Rochester Field by amending the Official Plan.

The proposed OPA will maintain the Major Open Space designation on one third of the property, and will redesignate the easternmost two-thirds of the land as General Urban Area, from Major Open Space. The NCC will then produce a Concept Plan for the area to determine the exact area of redesignation as well as the appropriate zoning for the area designated General Urban Area.

The expected Planning Committee date for this Official Plan Amendment is Tuesday, December 3, 2015.

A full circulation including the draft OPA will follow, but if you have any preliminary questions or comments please feel free to be in touch with me.
