Yoga Class Very Popular!

****ATTENTION THOSE WHO REQUESTED A SPOT IN THE YOGA CLASSES AT THE FIELD HOUSE.*****

Thanks to everyone who emailed, texted, called and left notes in my mailbox about wanting to take part in the Monday night yoga with Sandy, 6:00 pm and 7:30 classes. I have received over 50 people interested which is more than we can accommodate in the 2 classes. I realize some say they are interested and then don’t show up for a variety of reasons.

So here’s what I’m going to do. Priority will be given to those who took part in Sandy’s spring session that ended in early June 1 then I will open it up to everyone else.

So come to the session you want on Monday September 30 with your yoga mat and comfy clothes. Please come a half hour before the class starts so I can register folks.

If you live in Champlain Park (and only those in the PARK) and you haven’t yet purchased your membership please go to the website and do so before September 30.

Thanks

Laurie

Garden Club – September 10

Please join us for a new season of the Champlain Park Garden Club on Tuesday September 10 at 7:00 pm at the Champlain Park field house. Our guest is Ottawa Master Gardener, Odette McIntyre.

[Some Vegetables from Google]

We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month from September until June.

We have great season ahead with some really great topics, guests, tours and workshops. For example: famed naturalist Mike Runtz on wildflowers, Goth Gardening (yes that’s right) new perennials for the garden, pruning tips for shrubs and small trees, Christmas slide show of members gardens and others they admire.

Here’s an outline of Odette’s slideshow and talk for next Tuesday…

SEED SAVING – Preparing for the future

Saving your own vegetable seed makes your garden more sustainable, self-sufficient and saves you money. Learn how to save heirloom varieties, not available commercially, using veggies you harvested. Keep seed from special ornamentals, native plants, medicinal plants or perennials.

The cost to join is $25.00 plus a current Champlain Park Community Association membership. Drop in fee is $5.00 a night but if you join each meeting is only $2.50.

The Garden Club page also has general information about the club.

Yoga Class Starting

Thinking of doing yoga this fall? Sandy our fabulous instructor from last year has kindly agreed to come back and teach her one-hour classes on Monday nights.

Depending on how many sign up she’s willing to again offer 2 classes – one starting at 6 and the other right after at 7:30. The classes will run for 10 weeks from Monday September 30 until Monday December 9 (with no class on Thanksgiving Monday). The price will be determined based on how many sign up. If you’re interested please send Laurie a message including your email and phone number.

Cheers

New Zoning Bylaw Info Session – August 29

Join the City for a ward-specific virtual information session on Thursday, August 29 from 6:30 to 8 pm on Zoom to discuss Ottawa’s new Zoning By-law.

The session will begin with a citywide presentation that will provide an overview of the new Zoning By-law. At 7 PM, following the citywide presentation, ward-specific breakout rooms will take place to cover key topics relevant to Wards 12, 13 and 15 and host a Q&A session. It’s your chance to learn about the basics of zoning, key concepts of the proposed by-law, and engage in further discussions where you will have the opportunity to ask questions and share your thoughts! To attend, please register here.

See the previous post on what the changes mean for our neighbourhood (mostly increasing the number of units on a lot and decreasing green space).
