We’re experimenting with using a Google calendar as our list of events, in hopes that it will be easier for you to use and for us to update. Please let us know if it doesn’t work for you.

Hi Carol,
This is one idea — see attachment. I spoke to the Imam at the Mosque, as well as a leader of the Board; they both said that this action would be appreciated. If you’d be willing to use the CPCA list to get the word out, that would be great.
Peace,
Alex
Here’s a link to a Facebook event for the same action:
Champlain Park Families come out of hibernation to reconnect and to enjoy sleigh ride, outdoor rink, fiddle music, and chili at Winter Carnival 2017!!!
Carol Arnason, Social Committee Coordinator on the CPCA Executive, reports a large turnout of neighbours and a very successful party on Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2017. We welcomed visits from our elected representatives in all three levels of government: City Councillor Jeff Leiper, MPP Yasir Naqvi, and MP Catherine McKenna. Our Federal Environment Minister was judge of the Chili Cook-Off Contest and diplomatically celebrated all of the cooks until she awarded the Metro Gift card prize to Joscelyn Coolican, long time volunteer from Carleton Ave.
Thank you from the Champlain Park Community to the following enthusiastic volunteers who made it a memorable fun event:
Sarah Kotyck and Natalie Raffoul were the awesome organizers of Winter Carnival 2017.
Jim Kot had rink in great shape and Graydon ran outdoor activities.
Champlain Park Community Association sponsored free sleigh rides, free coffee and hot chocolate, and free entertainment.
Jason Keats, creator of balloon animals, kept the children amused.
Linda Landreville, Katie and Olivia Bolger, served food and hot drinks.
Chris and Sharon Kelly provided the sleigh rides.
Triple Trouble, Canterbury High School students, entertained with fiddles and step dancing.
Bridgehead supplied coffee and hot chocolate at a discount.
Neighbours donated chilis and baked goods for the lunch counter.

Best Christmas wishes to Tom Sauve and family for arranging Santa’s surprise visit to distribute candy canes at the Sunnymede stop. Thank you to Kelly Egan, Alex Smith, Adrian Bradley, and Jeanette Rule for advertising the event. Thank you to Dennis Van Staalduinen for leading our carol singing en route. Thank you to Olivia and Katie Bolger for preparing and serving hot chocolate. Thank you to Bridgehead for hot chocolate supplies. Many thanks to all the volunteer bakers in our neighbourhood for donations of holiday treats. Thanks to the Champlain Park Community Association for sponsoring the free sleigh ride.
The comment from our Costa Rican guests was: “We have nothing like this in Costa Rica -no community associations!” Merry Christmas everyone and see you at the CPCA Community Winter Carnival on Saturday, January 28,2017.

Catherine McKenna has sent her regrets, as she will not be able to attend tomorrow’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA).
However, we will still be welcoming Councillor Jeff Leiper and a representative of the Ottawa Mosque.
Please join us at7:15 for refreshments;7:30 for the meeting.
Our city councillors invite you to a solidarity walk in response to the recent graffiti on religious buildings. Besides a special service on Saturday morning at 11, there is a walk on Sunday:
Please join us at the corner of Island Park Drive and Scott Street on Sunday at noon, from where we’ll walk to Wellington and Somerset streets and finish at Plant Bath. It’s 3k in total, and shouldn’t take more than an hour and a half.
