Hazardous Waste Disposal at Tunney’s Pasture – Sept 15

As described in https://ottawa.ca/en/residents/garbage-and-recycling/hazardous-waste-and-special-items we have local waste depots twice this year, for disposing of paint, old electronics and other things too dangerous for regular garbage.

The depot runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tunney’s Pasture. The last one this year is on Sunday, September 15, 2019.

Some of the odder and more dangerous things I’ve brought and the chemical experts at the depot had fun looking over – old gardening chemicals with Malathion (still used for West Nile mosquitoes), DDT and Chlordane.

Romeo and Juliet this Friday

Just a reminder that Romeo and Juliet will be performed by A Company of Fools in our park this Friday at 7pm, with snacks after the show sponsored by your community association. See https://champlainpark.org/2019/07/01/romeo-and-juliet-in-our-park-august-9/ for other information.

Wikipedia: Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare’s most popular plays during his lifetime and along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers.

Midsummer’s Night Dream in our Park – August 2

Bear & Co. brings Shakepeare in the Park to Champlain Park at 7 p.m. this Friday, August 2, 2019 (not to be confused with the following Friday’s other Shakespeare play). A family favourite, A Midsummer Night’s Dream invites the audience to play. Bring your children by 18:40 to take part in the woodland scenes. At 18:50, help construct an outdoor theatre by seating yourselves. Chairs or a rug: necessary. So is raingear in “Scots weather!” A picnic, butterfly hat, or kazoos: optional. The show commences at 19:00! Suggested donation into the hat: $20 per person. This year’s show features sword-fighting, music, and a 10-year-old Puck. Visit http://www.bearandcompany.ca/ for details.
