Job Matchmaker and Listing Service Commences

We’re starting a new way of listing babysitters, snow shovellers and other people in the neighbourhood who are looking for casual work. On the flip side, we are also listing people who want workers to help them out. Prompted by problems with creepy callers, we now have a volunteer matchmaker to act as a go-between and anonymity options for both the web listing and the paper listing.

Have a look at https://champlainpark.org/matchmaker/ for the current listings, and go there to sign up too.

Hallowe’en Fun Run – October 28

via Todd Shannon on Facebook…

Attention Neighbours, please SAVE THE DATE for the 10th Annual Champlain Park Hallowe’en Fun Run*!

Start and finish line will be on the east side of the Fieldhouse, near the swings. We’ll get started at 9:30 with the ~2km route, followed by the ~800m route.

A few volunteers would be much appreciated to be on-course marshals so that no one gets lost in the haunted woods…

A $10 donation is encouraged (but not mandatory) to participate, with proceeds directly benefiting our neighbours at the Parkdale Food Centre.

Thanks to the Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA) for the funding of treats, prizes, posters, and supplies.

*The run is “under new management”, so please bear with us as we carry on this great legacy. Any questions, please ask in the comments.

Otherwise, see you on the 28th, and looking forward to all of the great costumes!

Leaf Drop

via Daniel Buckles…

Leaves falling? Turn them into compost for the public gardens by bringing bagged leaves to Pontiac. Leave the bags along the INSIDE/NORTH SIDE of the fence, between Carleton and Northwestern. This is the “tiny forest” area, where leaves are needed. PLEASE, don’t bring garden waste, but ONLY bags with leaves only (maple and oak are best).
