I'm a game programmer, doing pretty much everything (from Wii, Kinect to iPad). On the side, just for fun, I write file systems (for the nifty BeOS/Haiku operating system) and experiment with metadata.
A thank you note via Kris for the Kìchì Sìbì Winter Trail people:
On behalf of the Kichi Sibi Winter Trail, I send a sincere βthank youβ to the CPCA for its generous donation to the Winter Trail this year. Without your support, the Trail wouldnβt be as successful as it is today.
Nick Xenos, on behalf of the Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA), presents a $500 donation to Cheryl Caldwell, President of the Kichi Sibi Winter Trail (KSWT) Board, and Trail Manager Dave Adams. The CPCA has been a proud and dedicated supporter of the KSWT for the last several years. The KSWT, a registered not-for-profit and charitable organization, is mainly funded by donations from private citizens, as well as through some local business sponsorships, and modest grants from its partners – the City of Ottawa and the National Capital Commission. During our Annual General Meeting we’re electing the board members (directors) for the next year. We’ll provide a list of nominations closer to the AGM, but everyone with an interest in helping the community is welcome to run. Here’s a bit of background information, including links to what each board member and committee does… Continue reading “Elections at the AGM”→
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting. If you are attending at the Fieldhouse, you can register when you arrive.
After a rough start the recent cold temperatures have allowed us to make some ice, finally! The boarded rink and much of the oval are open for use starting today, Monday Jan. 15. Conditions are very rough so do take care as we continue to work on improving conditions each day.
Thanks to the volunteer crew for all their hard work.
If the weather cooperates, there will soon be skating at Champlain Park Rink! Once the rink is open, the fieldhouse will also be available during supervised rink hours for warming up, skate changing, washroom use, and access to the first aid kit. Rink supervisors oversee the use of the changerooms and the rink during these hours. We always need more rink supervisors to make the skating season a success! Supervisors must be a min. of 14 yrs old. If you’re a student, you can also count your hours towards your required high school volunteer hours.

Recycle your π² Tree at the Champlain Park Baseball Diamond, anytime in January!!
Give your old Christmas tree a βsecond lifeβ by donating it to the Kichi Sibi Winter Trail. Trees will be used to create wind breaks and safety barriers/cordons at various locations along the Winter Trail at Remic Rapids. Trees can be brought to the North East corner of the Champlain Park baseball diamond or to Remic Rapids anytime in January, 2024. The Winter Trail team will then make sure they get to where they are needed.
Thank you from the Kichi Sibi Winter Trail Team, and happy skiing!
