We’re keeping it simple and sticking with a purely virtual meeting for Monday night’s board meeting.
Oops, it turns out the field house is already in use by the Yoga classes on Monday night! We’ll try to find an alternative location (possibly somebody’s house) or cancel the in-person portion of the hybrid meeting. We’ll let you know, when we know. Sorry about the confusion.
Board meetings will have an open session for community residents to observe business discussions. Non board community members will also be invited to participate at certain times by the chair and there will be “in camera” topics for the board members only. Please contact the secretary via champlainpark@gmail.com to request a link to join the meeting.
Agenda last updated at 3:28 on November 15. Contact the secretary to add topics.
The topic on Nov. 14 is The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Identifying Insects In Your Garden, featuring guest speaker Jason Vodden, a professor in the horticulture program at Algonquin College.
See the Garden Club page for details about the meeting.
Have your say! Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Canada Lands Company (CLC) want your input on their proposed Complete Street and Active Transportation Network for Tunney’s Pasture.

A Master’s student from McGill University’s School of Urban Design is looking for homeowners willing to talk about home sharing arrangements in Ottawa (Basement suites, laneway homes) for a research project. He’s looking for homeowners who support the practice (or not) and those who have had experience with it.
The project is being done with the Ottawa Climate Action Fund in an effort to create more affordable, carbon-friendly housing alternatives. The interviews will add input from Ottawa home owners into future projects.
It involves a 30-minute discussion via Zoom. They hope to do the interviews by the end of November. Those interested should contact Gavin Armitage-Ackerman at: gavin.armitage-ackerman@mail.mcgill.ca

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Neighbours collected and dropped off more than 130 bags of neighbourhood leaves at the community gardens and tiny forest along Pontiac. That is all we need for this season. Anyone can complete the cycle by picking up and reusing the empty leaf bags from the stash in my front driveway (Daniel Avenue).

The City will be hosting a pair of online information sessions providing an overview of this program, as well as the other rebate and financial support programs available to homeowners supporting environmental home improvements. Information and registration via Zoom can be found at the links below.
November 2nd from 12 to 1pm
November 7th from 7 to 8:30pm

We’re starting a new way of listing babysitters, snow shovellers and other people in the neighbourhood who are looking for casual work. On the flip side, we are also listing people who want workers to help them out. Prompted by problems with creepy callers, we now have a volunteer matchmaker to act as a go-between and anonymity options for both the web listing and the paper listing.
Have a look at https://champlainpark.org/matchmaker/ for the current listings, and go there to sign up too.
