Votre communauté se transforme… parlons-en.

Mercredi 13 novembre 2013
Centre communautaire Hintonburg, 1064, rue Wellington Ouest

  • La rue Scott : la configuration de la rue Scott une fois le réseau de transport par train léger construit;
  • Les bâtiments de grande hauteur et autres utilisations : la répartition des futurs bâtiments de grande hauteur et des utilisations dans le secteur visé par le PCC;

Land Use Planning Workshop – November 21

From: ynaqvi.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org
Subject: Land Use Planning Workshop
Date: Thu, 7 Nov 2013 20:55:15 +0000

Dear Friends,

As you are aware, the Government of Ontario is currently reviewing the way cities and towns plan for development and how to help pay for it. We want to ensure that the land use plan and appeals systems, including the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB), and the development charges system are predictable, transparent and cost-effective, and are consulting with the general public, municipalities and stakeholders on this topic through regional workshops, online, by email and in writing.

As you know, our community has a special interest in this matter. I, along with you, am committed to pursuing solutions which would help in creating a level playing field in planning and development matters, and towards building a sustainable community for us all.

In this regard, I am pleased to let you know that on Thursday November 21, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing will be hosting a workshop in our community. This event will be taking place at Carleton University from 6:00pm to 9:30pm. This is an opportunity for residents, community associations, and businesses to get involved in this process.

Location: Residence Commons Conference Room, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa
Time: 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm

To view the agenda, and to RSVP please click here.

I hope you can participate in this session to ensure that our community’s experience and feedback is taken under consideration as part of this review.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Yasir

Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Awards

From: ynaqvi.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org
Subject: Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Awards
Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2013 15:25:03 +0000

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to let you know that Ontario is kicking off its annual awards program that celebrates the contributions of women and girls in communities across the province.

Nominations are now open for Ontario’s Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Awards. This has been an enormously successful program in our community. In Ottawa Centre, 92 women and girls have been recognized with this award since its launch in 2006, more than anywhere else in the province! Past winners include women who have made a positive difference in their communities by acting as a positive role model, encouraging girls to get involved in non-traditional careers, and championing issues such as financial security, diversity and healthy relationships.

There are so many women and girls whose leadership and actions are improving the lives of others and setting a good example. I encourage you to take this opportunity to recognize their efforts.

To nominate someone, simply fill out the attached form, answer three short questions about the nominee, and attach three letters of support. These letters must be unique to each nominee and should indicate how the nominee’s work has improved the lives of others. Letters may be submitted by a community leader, mentor, employer, or another individual who has experience volunteering with the nominee.

Applications must be submitted to my office by January 10, 2014, so that I can submit them to the Ontario Women’s Directorate in time. If you have any questions, or need any help completing your application, please do not hesitate to contact my Community Office.

Recognizing women and girls who are helping to build stronger communities is part of the new Ontario government’s plan to build a successful, compassionate and united province where everyone has the opportunity to connect, contribute and enjoy a high quality of life.

Sincerely,

Yasir

Dear Hintonburg, Mechanicsville, Wellington Village and Champlain Park Residents,

I hope you will be able to join me on Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 from 7 to 9 PM for a community meeting to present the draft strategies for the Scott Street District Community Design Plan. Come learn how Scott Street will be re-imagined as a more complete street, our low-rise neighbourhoods protected, and where our neighbourhoods will grow as the City invests in LRT and our City approaches 1,000,000 people.

This CDP will be completed by the end of the year, so this is an important opportunity to learn about where the CDP is going and provide your feedback.

I hope to see you there.

Thanks,

Katherine

Zoning Study on Residential Conversions

Public Meeting
Monday, September 16, 2013
7 to 9 p.m.
City Hall
Andrew Haydon Hall and Jean Pigott Place
110 Laurier Avenue West

The City of Ottawa Planning and Growth Management Department is undertaking a Zoning Study on Residential Conversions. This study relates to the conversion of one-, two- and three- unit dwellings to dwellings of three or more units.

The goal of the study is to ensure that such residential conversions are carried out in a manner that is compatible with the surrounding neighbourhoods. The study may result in an amendment to the Zoning By-law which changes the zoning rules governing residential conversions.

You can also send us your thoughts on residential conversions by e-mail at conversions@ottawa.ca. Updates on the Zoning Study can be found at ottawa.ca/conversions.

We hope that all residents, developers and other stakeholders will take this opportunity to participate in this important discussion on the future of residential conversions in Ottawa.

Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. If you require special accommodation, please call or e-mail the Project Lead below before the event.
