Cancelled: Community Association Board Meeting Agenda – February 25

Too many people are out sick or have to be away on other activities, so we’ve cancelled this meeting. Hope we have time to get through this somewhat large agenda at the next meeting!

Champlain Park Community Association (CPCA) Board Meeting

Tuesday, February 25, 2025

This is a meeting of the CPCA Board of Directors. Champlain Park Community members are welcome to attend, if you would like to propose items for discussion, to ask questions, to organize an event or activity, or to learn more about the issues affecting our community.

Activities and Issues must fall within our community plan/areas of operation in order to be addressed by the CPCA. You can write to the webmaster champlainpark@gmail.com to request a link to join the meeting and/or to connect you with the appropriate Board member for information and guidance including how to submit a Community Project Proposal.

Nick has some thoughts about how to structure the discussion; others invited to share their thoughts on structure also.

Ideas for Improving Our Park – Reminder

We’re wrapping up the survey (https://champlainpark.org/2024/11/11/ideas-for-improving-our-park) at the end of Friday, so there’s one more day to get your ideas for park improvements to us. Hopefully we have time to do a short summary in the next issue of the Champlain Speaker, which should be out in a couple of weeks. For more on this, or if you want to help out more directly, please contact the Parks Committee.

AGM Meeting – Reminder

A reminder that our community association annual general meeting is on Wednesday night, see https://champlainpark.org/2024/11/15/champlain-parks-annual-general-meeting-november-20/ for details.

Main points – guest speaker architect Rosaline Hill on “BuildingIN: A low-rise solution for infill housing”, Q&A with city councillor Jeff Leiper, summary of the last year, election of board for next year.

Traffic overflow in our neighbourhood and Zoning changes (a dozen units on a lot!) are hot topics, and we’ve started some committee action (join in if those topics are important to you) to see what we can do.

If you are going in person and want a PDF copy of the meeting documents (Agenda, Election process, Election candidates, Minutes of previous AGM, Financial report, Membership report, Community plan, Motion to waive audit, Traffic Safety Committee) please e-mail ChamplainPark@gmail.com with subject “Meeting Documents”.

Upcoming Community Association Meetings

We have two meetings in the queue:

  1. Tuesday, October 15, 7 pm. The usual board meeting on Google Meet, mostly to talk about the AGM (Annual General Meeting) and planning for guest speakers and elections. The agenda is being collected (write to the secretary to add items), but if anyone wants to talk about it, likely there will be something about the cut-through traffic filling the neighbourhood with cars (behind the scenes, various submissions have been made to the city and NCC). We’ll do another post when the agenda is ready, and as usual write to us if you want a link to the meeting.
  2. Wednesday, November 20, 7 pm. Annual General Meeting with guests Jeff Leiper (our city councillor) and (prompted by all these zoning changes allowing way more units per lot) architect Rosaline Hill on “BuildingIN: A low-rise solution for infill housing”. We’ll be trying to have a hybrid meeting – online and in the field house. If you want to vote, you’ll need a membership, but you are free to drop in without one.
