River Parkway Renamed Kichi Zībī Mīkan

From the NCC. Posted here partly so I’ll have a place to find the new name and copy it with the proper accents 🙂 There’s also a sound clip on their web site for pronouncing it. It means Great River Road in the Algonquin language, sort of similar to the old Ottawa River Parkway name in semantics!

I am writing to inform you that the NCC Board of Directors has approved Kichi Zībī Mīkan (kitchi zee-bee MEE-khan) as the new name for the SJAM Parkway. Please see the below news release or our website for details.

Membership Drive Continues

The Champlain Park Community Association is continuing its annual membership drive, with some important changes.

Instead of a door-to-door campaign, residents are asked to pay the $20 fee via e-transfer and we’ve added a cheque drop-off payment option (see below).

We have about a quarter of the neighbourhood’s households joined so far, which is a great start. We would like to add more members to our list.

So, how do I join?

Subject: Debate Planning General Information Session This Wednesday

Hello Everyone,

Just to let you know that HICG (Hampton Iona Community Group) is holding a brief information session this week about joining a team to organize future all candidates debates in the Kitchissippi ward. […]

The information session is this Wednesday evening, June 14th from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. It is via zoom.

If you know of anyone who might be interested in attending, please let me know by sending their email addresses and names. All are welcome.

The session will be very informal. A brief introduction by our President and an overview by me with plenty of time for attendees to ask their questions.

[…]

There likely will need to be a second information session in the Fall after another round of publicity.
