Seeking victims of theft by a cleaner

The Ottawa Police Service, Central Criminal Investigation Section has charged a woman with thefts from two residential homes in which she was employed as a cleaner.

On November 14th, 2021, Mimi CLUSIAU, 56 years old, of Gatineau, Quebec, was charged with two counts of theft over $5000.

Mrs. CLUSIAU had been employed as a house cleaner since 2012 in numerous homes in Ottawa and Gatineau. She recently worked for the aforementioned employers for a number of months until numerous pieces of high-valued jewellery and Canadian currency were found to be missing. She targeted elderly victims who were often home at the time of the thefts.

Investigators believe that Mrs. CLUSIAU may have carried out similar thefts with other employers since 2012. The investigation continues, and the name and description of Mrs. CLUSIAU is being released in order to identify additional victims and locations where she may have sold the jewellery.

Mrs. CLUSIAU is described as a Caucasian woman, light complexion, approximately 4 feet 11 inches (150 cm) tall, medium build, with greenish-blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ottawa Police Service Central Criminal Investigation Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 5540.
