Increased police presence in ByWard Market, Downtown Rideau, beaches and parks

There will be an increased police presence in the ByWard Market and Downtown Rideau areas starting this evening – as well as at beaches and parks.

The increased police presence from Frontline Patrol and Neighbourhood Resource Teams (NRT), in conjunction with OC Transpo and City By-law partners, coincides with the Reopening Ontario Step 1 that includes a limit of 10 people for outdoor gatherings.

Officers will take a zero tolerance approach to disorderly behaviours, such as Liquor Licence Act offences and criminal activity that can negatively impact residents, visitors and businesses.

Police will also assist City By-law officers in ensuring the overall respect of the Step 1 restrictions announced in the framework of the Reopening Ontario after COVID-19.

You can report incidents online at ottawapolice.ca/report, by calling the non-emergency number 613-236-1222, extension 7300, or by dialing 911 in the case of an emergency or a crime in progress.

The non-respect of the Reopening Ontario regulations can be reported to City By-law by dialing 3-1-1.
