Ottawa is in the process of building a new Official Plan, to direct the City’s growth and development during the next couple of decades.

The proposed plan takes a significantly different approach to city planning and redevelopment than has been taken in the past. All current residential zones (Champlain Park is R1 and R2) will be replaced and the City will be divided into “Transects”. All of our Kitchissippi Ward is situated in the new “Inner Urban Transect”. The goal is to “Transform” the Inner Urban Transect fairly quickly to accommodate greater density.

The Federation of Citizens’ Associations (FCA) will be presenting four workshops on the next two Saturday mornings. The purpose is to:

1. To bring community association representatives together to share thoughts on Ottawa’s Draft Official Plan.
2. To encourage community members to participate and make recommendations for Official Plan direction initiatives with the City of Ottawa
