A timely call to 911 on Monday morning led Frontline patrol officers, with the help of a canine tracker to arrest a man breaking into parked vehicles in the Old Irving Place area.

The call came in around 4:00am on August 6, 2018. Upon police arrival, the suspect had fled the area on foot, but using a canine track the suspect was located and arrested.

Michael LUNDSTROM, 21 years old of Ottawa, is charged with Possession of property obtained by crime x2.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 12, 2018.

“This is a great example of making the right call,” said Staff Sergeant Rick Giroux of the Ottawa Police Service Communications Centre. “Police were able to respond while the crime was happening and we successfully caught the person responsible. Members of the public are always encouraged to call police immediately when they see a crime in progress.”

Lundi matin, un appel au 9-1-1 fait au bon moment permit à des agents patrouilleurs, épaulés par une unité canine, de mettre la main au collet d’un individu s’introduisant par effraction dans des véhicules garés dans les environs de la Place Old Irving.

L’appel fut reçu vers 4 h, le 6 août 2018. Au moment de l’arrivée des policiers, le suspect s’était enfui à pied, mais grâce à un pistage canin, le fuyard fut localisé et appréhendé.

Michael LUNDSTROM, âgé de 21 ans et d’Ottawa, fut inculpé de possession de biens criminellement obtenus (2 chefs).

Il doit comparaître devant les tribunaux le 12 septembre 2018.

« C’est là un bel exemple d’un appel opportun, » a indiqué le sergent d’état-major Rick Giroux, du Centre des communications du Service de police d’Ottawa. « Les agents furent en mesure d’intervenir durant l’acte criminel et d’en appréhender le responsable. Les membres du public sont toujours encouragés à appeler immédiatement la police lorsqu’ils observent un crime en cours. »
