Dear Champlain Park Community Association,

The Heritage Inventory Project is moving into your neighbourhood! We’ve begun some preliminary research on your neighbourhood, and we would really appreciate any input from your community.

The Heritage Inventory Project is a city-wide strategic initiative which is evaluating buildings built prior to 1980 for heritage significance. Buildings that meet our design and neighbourhood tests are recommended for addition to the Heritage Register. For more information on our project, please see our website: Ottawa.ca/heritageinventory.

Does your community organization have information to share with us? We’re looking for your unique stories, facts, photographs, maps, or articles which highlight the cultural attributes of houses, barns, bridges, streets, neighbourhoods, and other built resources in your community.

You can participate in this project in many ways:

  • we could come to one of your association meetings and present the project and answer your questions,
  • we could submit an article for your community newspaper,
  • you could encourage your community members to share their stories to our email (heritageinventory@ottawa.ca)

As a reminder, this project is only evaluating non-designated properties of heritage significance. Any individually designated buildings, or buildings within a Heritage Conservation District are not within the scope of this project. You can see a map of the designated heritage properties within your community on GeoOttawa: http://maps.ottawa.ca/geoottawa/ (under the Planning tab you can select Heritage and from there select Individual Designated Properties and Heritage Conservation Districts).

If you are interested in a presentation from our team or an article in your community newspaper, we recommend discussing this soon and following through near the beginning of the new year.
