Update on Rosemount Business Case

On Tuesday October 10th, 2017, the Ottawa Public Library Board will be making an important decision about the future of the Rosemount Library.

A consultant has been preparing a business case that explores options to renovate Rosemount or build a new Rosemount at a nearby site. At this meeting the Rosemount Business Case will be presented along with a staff report which will make recommendations to the OPL Board. OPL Staff will provide the Board with a brief presentation. The Board will also have an opportunity to question both the consultant and OPL staff. The Board will then discuss the options and vote on the recommendations before them.

The Rosemount Business Case should be available shortly before the October 10th meeting. READ will make all efforts to share a copy of the Rosemount Business Case before the meeting takes place.

READ will be presenting its views to the Board during this meeting. READ believes that the OPL should commit to building a new, larger library that will meet the community’s current and future needs. READ strongly supports choosing a nearby site, such as an expansion of the Hintonburg Community Centre. Le mardi 10 octobre 2017, le Conseil d’administration de la Bibliothèque d’Ottawa prendra une décision très importante concernant l’avenir de la succursale Rosemont.

Un consultant indépendant montera un dossier commercial (Business Case) qui tient compte de deux options : rénover l’édifice actuel ou construire une nouvelle bâtisse ailleurs. Lors de la réunion du 10 octobre prochain, le dossier commercial (Business Case) de la succursale Rosemont sera présenté par le consultant qui fera des recommandations au Conseil d’administration. Après, l’équipe de l’BPO fournira au Conseil d’administration une brève présentation. Le Conseil d’administration aura aussi l’occasion de questionner le consultant indépendant et l’équipe de l’BPO. Ensuite, le Conseil d’administration discutera des options et tiendra un vote devant les personnes présentes.

Le dossier commercial (Business case) de la succursale Rosemont sera disponible pendant une courte durée le 10 octobre. READ fera de son mieux pour distribuer quelques exemplaires du dossier avant le début de la réunion.

READ présentera son point de vue au Conseil d’administration pendant la réunion. READ croit que l’BPO doit s’engager dans la construction d’une nouvelle bibliothèque qui prendra en considération les besoins présents et futurs de la communauté. READ appuie fortement le choix d’un emplacement à proximité, tel que l’expansion du Centre communautaire Hintonburg. READ compte sur la participation et le soutien du plus grand nombre.
