Subject: Champlain Park Community Offers Support to Ottawa Mosque.

Dear Imam Samy and Naeem Malik: In light of the sad news of a terrorist attack on the Islamic Centre in Quebec City we feel the need to offer our support to you, the Ottawa Muslim Community,at this time. Unfortunately, it is only a couple of months since we joined in a solidarity walk through Hintonburg after the vandalism of places of worship in November in Ottawa.

Once again, we will ask all of the residents in the Champlain Park Community to be vigilant and report quickly to police any suspicious activity in the area of the Ottawa Mosque.

At our Champlain Park Winter Carnival 2017, last Saturday, January 28, 2017, I was heartened to see neighbours of a variety of cultures drinking hot chocolate, taking sleigh rides, and listening to fiddle music. I could hear English, French, Arabic, and Chinese being spoken along with a lot of laughter. As we discussed in November, we should plan more of these multicultural family events.

Please contact us if you have ideas of how we can show support. The Champlain Park Community Association is ready to join with you to build a warm, welcoming community.

Sincerely,
Carol Arnason (613-729-6639)
