Hello Champlain Park residents:

I would like to pass along information important to Champlain Park residents.

On Monday January 19, 2015: there was a young man walking along Patricia Avenue with some sort of device in his hand. He was going up to people’s houses and appeared to be reading their water meters. He was not wearing anything that indicated he was from either Hydro Ontario or Hydro Ottawa. He was not ringing doorbells of homes either. He was wearing black snow pants, a grey hoodie, and a toque with the colours of the Green Bay Packers. He was Caucasian.

I contacted Const. Dawn Neilly and she advised me that Champlain Park residents should be notified. So, if you should see someone who matches the above description, please contact the police so that they may attend and identify the male at the time, and confirm if he is indeed suspicious or if he is doing a job.

If you could also drop me an e-mail, that way I may keep track of ongoing issues in the neighbourhood.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sarah Livermore, B.A. (Hons.), M.A.

If often go for walks in Champlain Park during the daytime so if you’d like to give me a contact name on the police force and the correct number to call, I can keep an eye out for this guy and call the officers before he has a chance to slip away.

Just for info, in my experience, being a retired person who is at home a lot, the water meter reader never rings the bell or knocks, because the meters are on the outside of our houses.BTW, the water meter reader would not be wearing Hydro gear! Water is a City responsibility & they may have contracted out this task, hence no uniform.

I do know that there is a problem in our area, at least on my street, with sewage getting into the surface water drains & thence into the river, so City people are currently doing ‘dye’ tests to find out if somebody’s sewage pipe is not connected to the proper City sewer pipe. But those people knock the door or leave messages for you to make an appointment for the test.
